JAVANESE-ISLAMIC EXPRESSIVE ACCULTURATION: STUDY OF SOCIAL RELIGIOUS PHENOMENON IN PARE
Abstract
The study of Javanese Islam is very dynamic, adapting to the situation and conditions of the development of religious understanding, giving rise to an expressive attitude in representing religious understanding. These expressions compete for negotiation space in social culture, as well as as a middle way between Islamic and Javanese religious teachings. Within the scope of Javanese society, slametan is the spirit of the rite of worship. Slametan is also a means of expression and negotiation for Javanese people regarding natural events. Slametan is also a form of expression for santri who have adapted slametan culture in accordance with Islamic teachings so that slametan is the santri's capital in expressing religious understanding.
Key words: Santri, abangan, slametan, expressive, capital
