TRILOGI POKOK PEMIKIRAN FAZLUR RAHMAN : NEOMODERNISME PENDIDIKAN ISLAM, ILMU HERMENEUTIKA, ILMU TAFSIR DAN TAKWIL
Abstract
Lahirnya para pemikir dan pembaharu Islam pada era modern memunculkan kemajuan dan progresivitas dalam perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan. Proses ijtihad hukum dan pengetahuan pada dunia Islam yang terhenti pasca runtuhnya imperium Baghdad seakan terlahir kembali pada era modern pasca zaman kolonialisme dan imperialisme Eropa terhadap benua asia dan afrika. Persentuhan antara dunia timur-arab dengan barat-Eropa menimbulkan perdebatan-perdebatan antar pemikir mulai dari masalah dogma agama, ilmu agama hingga ilmu pengetahuan yang dianggap netral. Fazlur rahman yang lahir di Pakistan dan menempuh pendidikan di Inggris yang juga mengalami persentuhan tersebut merasakan bahwa terdapat dikotomi antara keilmuan agama dan umum. Fazlur Rahman sebagai pembaharu pemikiran Islam menawarkan konsep-konsep baru yang menjawab perdebatan dan problem para pemikir saat itu. Konsep pemikiran itu tercantum dalam trilogi pokok pemikiran Fazlur Rahman tentang neomodernisme pendidikan Islam, ilmu hermeneutika, ilmu tafsir dan takwil. Penelitian ini berusaha menjelaskan dan mengkonsepkan pemikiran Fazlur Rahman tentang neomodernisme pendidikan Islam, ilmu hermeneutika, ilmu tafsir dan takwil. Metodologi penelitian menggunakan metode literature review. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentuhan budaya Islam dengan barat menyebabkan distingsi pada bidang pendidikan dan tafsir al-Qur’an. Rahman menawarkan sebuah konsep baru dengan istilah neomodernisme pendidikan Islam serta metodologi ilmu hermenutika penafsiran al-Qur’an melalui tiga metode yaitu metode kritik sejarah, metode penafsiran sistematis dan metode gerakan ganda (double movement).
