Analisis Semantik Lafaz Yabsuṭu, Basṭah, dan Al-Muṣayṭirūn dalam Al-Qur’an
Abstract
This article examines the variant readings of the Qur’anic expressions yabṣuṭu, basṭah, and al-muṣayṭirūn, which are written in the rasm ‘Uthmānī using the letter ṣād accompanied by a small sīn sign in the muṣḥaf of Ḥafṣ’s narration. This phenomenon often leads to the assumption of inconsistency between Qur’anic orthography and recitation among readers. This study aims to explain the phenomenon through a semantic and qirā’āt-based approach, focusing on the differences between the transmission paths (ṭuruq) within the narration of Ḥafṣ from Imām ‘Āṣim. Employing a library research method, this study analyzes the ‘Uthmānī muṣḥaf, Arabic lexicons, classical qirā’āt manuals, and Qur’anic exegesis. The findings indicate that the variation between sīn and ṣād readings is phonetic in nature and does not affect the semantic meaning of the verses. These variant readings are supported by authentic chains of transmission and represent the richness of Qur’anic recitation traditions. Furthermore, the Qur’anic recitation practiced in Indonesia, which predominantly follows the Shāṭibiyyah path within the Ḥafṣ narration, is shown to have strong scholarly and authoritative foundations.
